Meet Richard Dwayne Gordon, a rising star in the Jamaican music scene, better known by his stage name, "Prohgres". Born on a memorable day, November 8th, 1993. Prohgres is a singer, songwriter, and performer who is quickly making a name for himself in the music industry. Growing up in the vibrant district of Queenhythe, located in Discovery Bay, St. Ann, as a young boy, Prohgres was influenced by the music of "G-star", which ignited a spark in him to pursue his dream of becoming a singer. However, the separation of his parents when he was just eleven years old plunged him into a state of depression. Struggling to cope, music became his refuge, and he started putting pen to paper to express his emotions.
Prohgres' passion for music remained unwavering, leading him to record his first song, "Wine Up Yuh Body," at the age of fifteen under the Upliftment Record label. Although the song became an instant hit in his neighborhood, Prohgres realized that it didn't align with his musical vision. He desired to create uplifting and inspiring music that could motivate his fans. As a result, he changed his stage name from "Red-o dan" to "Prohgres" after a studio session with a friend. His friend suggested the name based on his unrelenting progress in his musical journey, and the name has since become his trademark.
Prohgres perseveres through his musical struggles. Jamaican superstars Buju Banton, Damian Marley, Sean Paul, Bugle, I-octane, and Agent Sasco inspire him. "Strength," "Memory Lane," "Success Deh Near," "Nuh Too Friendly," and "Tables Turn" are popular locally and internationally. Prohgres' warm personality and aggressive track delivery keep him in the music industry. He has great potential in the entertainment industry. "Without confidence, you are twice defeated in life," said Marcus Mosiah Garvey. Prohgres is managed by his talented management teams Headake Records and Hustle Dan Entertainment.
